1. Purpose
This directive establishes the official description, operational mandate, and organizational framework of the vNATO Special Operations Group (SOG) operating within the IVAO network.
2. Status
vNATO SOG is a multinational, joint virtual aviation unit structured to emulate NATO Special Air Operations standards. The Group operates as a non-political, training-focused entity adhering to recognized procedures, communications discipline, and interoperability principles.
3. Mission
The mission of vNATO SOG is to plan, coordinate, and execute Special Air Operations (SAO) within a simulated environment, ensuring uniformity, safety, and operational effectiveness across all participating personnel.
4. Tasks
vNATO SOG is responsible for:
- 4.1Conducting Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) sorties.
- 4.2Executing Close Air Support (CAS), strike coordination, and armed overwatch profiles.
- 4.3Providing air mobility support including tactical transport, troop insertion/extraction, and logistics flights.
- 4.4Performing rotary-wing special mission operations.
- 4.5Supporting airborne refueling operations (AAR).
- 4.6Coordinating joint task force (JTF) training and multi-aircraft mission activities.
- 4.7Maintaining standardized briefing, execution, and debriefing procedures.
5. Command and Control
The Group adheres to a hierarchical structure compliant with NATO-style organizational principles. Command authority ensures:
- 5.1Issuance of mission orders.
- 5.2Oversight of training, qualification, and discipline.
- 5.3Enforcement of communications standards and SOP adherence.
- 5.4Coordination with IVAO divisions, VAs, and external units for joint operations.
6. Training and Readiness
- 6.1All personnel must complete required training modules applicable to their designated aircraft and operational role.
- 6.2Readiness levels are maintained through periodic evaluations, mission rehearsals, and proficiency checks.
- 6.3Qualification badges and operational statuses are granted only upon demonstration of competency in accordance with vNATO training doctrine.
7. Operational Principles
